REVIEW: BRIDESMAIDS

Bridesmaids-movie
It’s good…but not that good. It’s funny…but not that funny. It stretches the envelope of the standard rom-com…but not that much.

And that’s pretty much what I have to say about Bridesmaids. Maybe a second viewing will help me appreciate it more, but I’ll probably never see it a second time, because, no matter what you’ve been told by other reviewers, this is totally a chick-flick, and I don’t enjoy chick-flicks. Also, Kristen Wiig’s character is a pretty unsympathetic loser; another character calls her an “asshole”, and she’s right. It’s a testament to Wiig’s fundamental likability that I sat through this thing at all. I guess, if you like this sort of thing, you’ll like this, because it’s the sort of thing that you like.

That’s it. What lingering enthusiasm I had for this movie just got pissed away in the writing of this review. It’s a quality film…but it’s still a movie for the ladies about weddings. I have no use for Wedding Crashers for the same damn reason.
